Ryka Aoki’s (she/her) latest novel, Light From Uncommon Stars (Tor Books 2021) was an Alex, SCKA, and Otherwise Award winner, a finalist for the Hugo, Locus, Dragon, and Ignyte Awards, and an LA Times and USA Today Bestseller.
Ryka has been recognized by the California State Senate for “extraordinary commitment to the visibility and well-being of Transgender people.” She was also honored to work with the American Association of Hiroshima Nagasaki A-Bomb Survivors, and two of her compositions were adopted as the organization’s “songs of peace.”
She is currently working on her next novel, her first graphic novel, and a collection of essays. She is queer, trans, and likes violins, pianos, gelato and Jolly Ranchers.
