Premee Mohamed (she/her) is a Nebula, World Fantasy, Ignyte, Locus, and Aurora award-winning Indo-Caribbean scientist and speculative fiction author based in Edmonton, Alberta. She has also been a finalist for the Hugo, British Fantasy, British Science Fiction, Ursula K. Le Guin, and Crawford awards. In 2024, she was the Edmonton Public Library writer-in-residence. She is the author of the ‘Beneath the Rising’ series of novels as well as several novellas, including The Butcher of the Forest. Her short fiction has appeared in many venues, including Best Horror of the Year Volume 17, Best Science Fiction of the Year Volume 8, and Best Canadian Science Fiction and Fantasy Volumes 1-3.
